Vintage Beaufort Hunt Cap, Black Velvet English Riding Helmet is equipped with a chin strap, red and gold satin/silk drawstring lining, a metal top plate vs. the traditional button top for rider protection, and the traditional grosgrain bow at the back. It was manufactured by Beaufort Hunt Cap, Made in England. There is also another tag that shows “Approved to British Standards; B.S. 3686, License No 3695” An equestrian helmet is a form of protective headgear worn when riding horses. This type of helmet is specially designed to protect the rider’s head in the event of falls from a horse, especially from striking a hard object while falling or being accidentally struck in the head by a horse’s hoof. It is in lovely vintage condition. The velvet has faded over the years and the helmet appears more brown than black. The owner's name still shows in the lining. This would be a spectacular collector’s piece BUT also a great décor item for a vintage/antique setting, photography prop, kid’s room for horse/riding setting...let your imagination run wild!
