French Country Wine Cabinet_Safe
This piece is an exquisite example of furniture transformation mixed with rich history that would bring eye-catching appeal to any commercial lobby such as a restaurant, vineyard, or store where items can be creatively displayed and of course, to showcase fine wines. We took an extremely battered circa 1920 Boone Hoosier Style cabinet top, rescued from Michigan in 2015, and restored it to its original structural condition while keeping the original red interior and cream exterior approximately 90% intact. All hardware (including the brass Boone tag), except the two latches, are original to the hutch. The latches are solid-brass reproductions but were aged and distressed to blend perfectly. Once completed, we partnered it with a Rigidex Depose Wine Safe from France, circa 1900s. This robust wine cage is 100% original, unaltered, and holds 200 bottles of wine. It is a fully functional safe equipped with the original latch. This unit had been imported to Florida in 2012 and was picked and brought to Colorado in 2019. To finish off this wine safe as well as match its rich rustic past, we constructed a wood base made of a live-edge ash milled from a 100 year old tree in Kansas. The top shelf was also built with a live-edge ash front piece combined with circa 1860 barnwood from Michigan. Each decorated with matching design technique to blend the original red and off-whites from the Boone cabinet to the base.
