French Galvanized Zinc Wine Drying Rack
Description: This circa 1900 antique piece was originally used for drying wine bottles after they were washed and reused by the vintner. It is made of galvanized zinc and shows normal wear and tear of an antique item of its age. Today, these racks are hard to find and are used in farmhouse or industrial décor for their unique slender elegance. It is a perfect piece to add charm to your kitchen, displaying coffee mugs or small drinking glasses or as a creative piece for entertainment areas such as a basement displaying your favorite empty wine bottles. This rack was imported from France in 2012 but its origin dates back a hundred years. It holds 204 hooks that are affixed to the round frame for bottle drying. Racks are all made differently in their presentation which is a characteristic of authentic French handmade craft items. This particular rack was made of galvanized steel and shows the patina from years and years of use and weathering.
